In 2010 Heath and I rode our bicycles from LA to NYC. In 2011 we went up the largest granite monolith in the world with Timmy Oneill and felt real real small and a little bit stupid. In March 2013 we will rent a raft, get dropped off at the start of the Grand Canyon, and will attempt to row 225 miles of the Colorado River for 18-21 days with no prior experience and no guide. Wish us luck…

Been there, done it…..and in a wood raft ( and with only one arm) and no cell phone or map. Only lost 2 men on my journey. But I say go for it young men…..as I do like your style and look forward to reading your updates. Cheers!

the colorado is a beautiful run. i went a few years back for a two week stint with some friends and a guide. pretty gnarly but not unattainable to do without prior experience. i dont know where your dropping in but i remember it got hairy pretty quick. you might want to at least paddle around a bit the rafts take a little getting used to. the only bummer i can imagine (outside of accidents) is getting pinned into some rocks and fucking up the raft before you get into the good shit – like lava!
